NEPIRC has partnered with the Northern Tier Industry & Education Consortium (NTIEC) to provide “Energy, Oil and Gas Careers” educational programs within four northern tier schools during the month of February.

Students within Lackawanna Trail High School and Tunkhannock High School will learn about entry-level jobs that are expected to exist within the Marcellus Shale, alternative energy and oil industries in 2013 and beyond, as well as long-term career paths within those industries.

Younger students within Tunkhannock Mehoopany Elementary and Tunkhannock Roslund Elementary will participate in interactive seminars designed to help them better understand the natural gas, wind energy and oil industries and will also hear vocational presentations from experts within those fields.

The joint sponsorship of these programs, hosted by Michael Forgione, a Geological & Technical Advisor for The Institute for High Priority Occupations, is part of a larger collaborative effort intended to create a future workforce for regional high-growth industries.
